Competitive Equilibrium Always Exists for Combinatorial Auctions with Graphical Pricing Schemes

چکیده

Abstract We show that a competitive equilibrium always exists in combinatorial auctions with anonymous graphical valuations and pricing, using discrete geometry. This is an intuitive easy-to-construct class of can model both complementarity substitutes, to our knowledge, it the first besides gross substitutes have guaranteed equilibrium. prove through counter-examples result tight, we give explicit algorithms for constructing pricing vectors. also extensions multi-unit (also known as product-mix auctions). Combined theorems on Candogan, Ozdagar Parrilo, results indicate quadratic highly practical method run auctions.

Pricing combinatorial auctions

Single-item auctions have many desirable properties. Mechanisms exist to ensure optimality, incentive compatibility and market-clearing prices. When multiple items are offered through individual auctions, a bidder wanting a bundle of items faces an exposure problem if the bidder places a high value on a combination of goods but a low value on strict subsets of the desired collection. To remedy ...

Bundling Equilibrium in Combinatorial auctions

This paper analyzes ex post equilibria in the VCG combinatorial auctions. If Σ is a family of bundles of goods, the organizer may restrict the bundles on which the participants submit bids, and the bundles allocated to them, to be in Σ . The Σ-VCG combinatorial auctions obtained in this way are known to be truth-telling mechanisms. In contrast, this paper deals with non-restricted VCG auctions,...

Competitive Equilibrium Analysis for Repeated Procurement Auctions

In this study, we conduct a competitive equilibrium analysis for the repeated (sequential) procurement auctions. We consider capacitated suppliers (bidders), each with a U-shaped cost function that captures the economies (and dis-economies) of scale in bidding quantity. Cases with both homogenous and non-homogenous bidders are considered in a symmetric incomplete information setting. First we a...

Coalition-Based Pricing in Ascending Combinatorial Auctions

Bidders in larger ascending combinatorial auctions face a substantial coordination problem, which has received little attention in the literature. The coordination problem manifests itself by the fact that losing bidders need to submit non-overlapping package bids which are high enough to outbid the standing winners. We propose an auction format, which leverages the information that the auction...

Existence of Competitive Equilibria in Combinatorial Auctions

Competitive equilibrium provides a natural steady state for iterative combinatorial auctions that maximize social welfare, and therefore the first step in auction design is to establish its existence. Recent work by Baldwin and Klemperer (2012) has proved that the "demand type" of valuations being "unimodular" is a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of a competitive equilibriu...
